Basketball Recap: Northfield Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Northfield extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 7-1. They rang in the new year with a 64-56 victory over the Standley Lake Gators. Given the Nighthawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Gators are ranked 94th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Judah Michael continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 20 points. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was James Huff, who posted eight points and 12 rebounds.

Northfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

As for Standley Lake, they now have a losing record of 3-4. They haven't had much luck with Northfield recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Asher Serlen, who shot 64% from the field on his way to 23 points. Serlen is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Titus Schrecengost was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Northfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-38 win against DSST: Conservatory Green on the 8th. As for Standley Lake, they have also already played their next matchup, a 58-32 victory against Northglenn on the 9th.
