Basketball Game Preview: Nevada Union Miners vs. Placer Hillmen

Nevada Union hasn't had much luck against Placer recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Nevada Union Miners will head out to challenge the Placer Hillmen at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nevada Union took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 53-36 win over Del Campo.

Meanwhile, Placer waltzed into their matchup on Monday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 74-58. Given the Hillmen's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Tigers are ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Placer pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Nevada Union, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.

Nevada Union lost to Placer on the road by a decisive 78-62 margin in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Placer's Kannon Rector, who posted 31 points along with six assists and three steals.
