Recap: South Aiken Thoroughbreds vs. Aiken Fighting Green Hornets
The South Aiken Thoroughbreds fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Green Hornets. While losing is never fun, South Aiken can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Aiken is ranked 64th).
South Aiken lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyler Nipper, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Javarse Houston, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for South Aiken and nudges their season record down to 4-17. As for Aiken, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.
South Aiken will take on North Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Augusta has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 266 points over their last four matches. As for Aiken, they will head out on the road to face off against Airport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Airport is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
