Preview: Edsel Ford Thunderbirds vs. Carlson Marauders
Edsel Ford has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Carlson Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Edsel Ford had to settle for a 62-59 loss against Allen Park. While losing is never fun, Edsel Ford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 525th, while Allen Park is ranked 98th).
Meanwhile, Carlson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to Trenton.
Despite their loss, Carlson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brody Lavis, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Lavis continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Austin Saavedra was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and four blocks.
Even though they lost, Carlson were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Edsel Ford's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Carlson, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-5.
Edsel Ford came up short against Carlson in their previous matchup back in January, falling 33-29. Can Edsel Ford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
