League recap: Bay Port paces Fox River Classic with six wins over past week

Fox River Classic league recap: 5/22/13

Bay Port outpaced the rest of the league this week, as its six total wins led the league. The Pirates beat Notre Dame Academy 8-7, West 27-0, the Wildcats 22-4 and South 3-0.

With a rough week, Pulaski dropped out of the state's top 25 rankings. Pulaski fell from No. 22 to No. 39 after going 1-5 over the past week. The Red Raiders are ranked No. 6,712 in the nation, and have an overall record of 8-12.

The Red Raiders boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to Fox River Classic's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Pulaski, the league's stolen base leader this season with 39, added to its lead in that category with 15 more steals over the past week.

The most RBI in the league this week belonged to the Red Raiders' Robbie Schuettpelz, who drove in five. He now stands at 11 RBIs on the season, which puts him fourth in the league.

Pulaski's Luke Vanlanen led the league in strikeouts this week with 17. With 49 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



VanLanen threw a shutout as he led the Red Raiders to victory over East, 2-0, on Tuesday. He struck out 17, allowing two hits.

Schuettpelz drove in four runners on Wednesday in West de Pere's 16-6 victory over Pulaski. He went 3-for-3 and scored one run.
