Preview: Elysian Fields Yellowjackets vs. Gary Bobcats
The Elysian Fields Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Gary Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elysian Fields is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Elysian Fields escaped with a win against Hughes Springs by the margin of a single free throw, 33-32. The win was just what Elysian Fields needed coming off of a 40-18 loss in their prior matchup.
McKenzie LeBlanc was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 18 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Elysian Fields' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniya Patterson, who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Gary, who are still winless after their sixth game. They took a 33-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Augustine on Monday. Gary has struggled against San Augustine recently, as their game on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
The losses dropped Elysian Fields to 3-9 and Hughes Springs to 0-4.
Things could have been worse for Elysian Fields, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-26 loss to Gary when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Elysian Fields avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
