Basketball Recap: Trinell Parker Key Part of a Team Effort in Junior Jays Win

There's no place like home for Creighton Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lincoln Northeast Rockets by a score of 76-66 on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Junior Jays, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Creighton Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trinell Parker led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. The game was Parker's third in a row with at least ten points. Conner Peters was another key player, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points.

Several Rockets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lazerek Houston, who went 12 of 24 on his way to 32 points and three steals. That was a full 48.5% of Lincoln Northeast's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Fredericks, who had 17 points.

Creighton Prep's record now sits at 8-2. As for Lincoln Northeast, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.

Creighton Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Omaha Westside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Omaha Westside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Lincoln Northeast, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 83-76 victory against Lincoln Southeast on the 7th.
