Basketball Recap: Dallas Christian Comes Up Short

If Dallas Christian was feeling good fresh off their 64-44 takedown of All Saints Episcopal last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dallas Christian Chargers took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop Gorman Crusaders on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 774th, while the Crusaders are ranked 374th).

When it comes to explaining why Dallas Christian lost, don't look at Cason Walker. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-16 on his way to 22 points. The match was Walker's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Belt, who posted eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop Gorman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carlin Ifeadi, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 18 points and five boards. Ifeadi is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Beau Bender was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

Dallas Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-18. As for Bishop Gorman, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7.

When Dallas Christian and Bishop Gorman next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Dallas Christian will take on Lubbock Christian and their 16-game winning streak at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dallas Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman will try to stop Covenant Christian's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th.
