Baseball Recap: Midway Comes Up Short

Midway started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Wartburg Central. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Green Wave were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Caiden Brewer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Midway: the team is 4-1-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise. Peyton Steele was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Midway's loss dropped their record down to 8-12-1. As for Wartburg Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

While Midway had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
