Preview: New Milford Green Wave vs. Newtown Nighthawks
The New Milford Green Wave and the Newtown Nighthawks will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. New Milford has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16.
Last Friday, New Milford came up short against Stratford and fell 50-42.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ryder Gee, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Czupkowski, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Newtown pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 80-66 fall against Bunnell. Newtown's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
New Milford's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Newtown, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
New Milford couldn't quite finish off Newtown in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 58-56. Can New Milford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
