Volleyball Recap: Monroe Area Comes Up Short

Monroe Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Oglethorpe County Patriots. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Purple Hurricanes of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-20, 25-12.

Ashley Phiel paced Monroe Area's offense, picking up five kills. Phiel got some help from Alyssa Brown and her five assists. Phiel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Monroe Area's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Oglethorpe County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Monroe Area has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Washington-Wilkes on the 12th. As for Oglethorpe County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Dacula on the 14th.
