Softball Recap: May River Sets Scoring Season-High Against James Island

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask May River). They were the clear victor by a 14-2 margin over the James Island Trojans on Friday. The game was the first time the Sharks have beaten the Trojans on their field since May 17, 2021.

The team relied heavily on Addison Roppelt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Allie Belcher also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

May River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Island only posted an OBP of .222.

The victory made it two in a row for May River and bumps their season record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for James Island, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, May River will challenge Bishop England at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for James Island, they will take on Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
