Baseball Game Preview: Lehi Pioneers vs. Pleasant Grove Vikings

For the second straight game, Lehi will face off against Pleasant Grove. The Pioneers will head out to challenge the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Lehi is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Lehi is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Pleasant Grove, who was ranked second at the time (Lehi was ranked 16th). The Pioneers came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 15-10 on Wednesday. Lehi's victory was all the more impressive since the Vikings were averaging only 3.9 runs allowed on the season.

Mays Madsen was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Lehi: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brandon Manookin, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Lehi kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Lehi pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-4 record this season.
