Basketball Recap: Cuthbertson Beats Forest Hills for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Cuthbertson entered their tilt with Forest Hills on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 47-43 W against the Yellow Jackets. While the Cavaliers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Cuthbertson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Mundy out in front who went 8-for-19 to rack up 21 points. The matchup was Mundy's third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Amayah Rogers, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Cuthbertson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Despite the defeat, Forest Hills saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nyjaya Wingo shot 50% from the field on her way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Those 50% shooting accuracy set a new season-high mark for Wingo. Layla Rushing was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Cuthbertson's record is now 6-1. As for Forest Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Cuthbertson will challenge Forestview at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Forest Hills, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-25 win against Concord on the 5th.
