Basketball Game Preview: Hobbs Eagles vs. Organ Mountain Knights + Official Tickets

The Hobbs Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Organ Mountain Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Hobbs' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Hobbs took a 21-point loss the last time they faced off against San Angelo Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bobcats 73-70. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in New Mexico, while the Bobcats are ranked 46th in Texas) , the result last Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hobbs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Clay, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 16 points. What's more, Clay also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Braddock Beaty was another key player, going 6-for-12 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Organ Mountain came up short against Cleveland on Tuesday and fell 76-68. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hobbs' victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Organ Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Hobbs skirted past Organ Mountain 55-53 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
