Basketball Recap: Cocke County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ethan Fine and Will Sutton

Cocke County lost against Morristown-Hamblen West back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cocke County Fighting Cocks took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans. The Fighting Cocks' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Despite the loss, Cocke County had strong showings from Will Sutton, who went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points along with five assists and three steals, and Ethan Fine, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Sutton's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Hayes, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points and three blocks.

Cocke County's record now sits at 8-15. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, they moved to 5-11 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Cocke County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-53 win against Grainger on the 28th. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, it'll be Eastside v. Westside when they and Morristown-Hamblen East meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Morristown-Hamblen West is facing Morristown-Hamblen East at the right time seeing as Morristown-Hamblen East is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
