Baseball Recap: Verona Falls to Pierce City in First Game of Season

Verona unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 11-1 to the Pierce City Eagles on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 19 in a row.

Verona saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caiden Hillhouse, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Verona and Pierce City will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Verona sees the field they'll take on McAuley Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Pierce City, their break will end when they face Crane at 5:00 p.m. on the 31st.
