Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Madisonville-North Hopkins' Third in Last Four Outings

Madisonville-North Hopkins and Crittenden County pushed the score to 11-10 the last time they played Crittenden County, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Maroons never let the Rockets get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Maroons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Evan Lear's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Matthew Yates was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Madisonville-North Hopkins has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Crittenden County, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10.
