Softball Game Preview: Harrison Raiders vs. West Lafayette Red Devils

Harrison is a perfect 8-0 against West Lafayette since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Harrison turned things around against Lafayette Jefferson on Tuesday. They blew past the Bronchos 14-2. That looming 14-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Raiders yet this season.

Della Bossung made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Hainje, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Hannah Voll, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, West Lafayette came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 7-4.

West Lafayette's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Harrison, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

Harrison skirted past West Lafayette 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
