Softball Recap: Juda Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clinton, Juda was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Durand Bulldogs. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Ryleigh Brown was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

In other batting news, Juda let Reegan Schmidt and Phoenix Homan run wild. Schmidt went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run, while Homan went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

The win got Juda back to even at 1-1. As for Durand, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

Juda does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Durand, they will head out to face off against Harvest Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.36 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
