Basketball Recap: A'tavius Mcchristion's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Greenville over Canton

Greenville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-42 defeat to the Canton Tigers. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Greenville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being A'Tavius McChristion, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. McChristion is becoming a predictor of Greenville's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is 9-4 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Jay Titus was another key player, putting up six points along with ten boards and three steals.

Greenville's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Canton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenville will square off against Cleveland Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canton, they will welcome Yazoo City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
