Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but St. Joseph unfortunately witnessed the end of their 22-game winning streak dating back to last season on Thursday. They fell just short of the Calhoun Sandcrabs by a score of 4-3. The loss put an end to the Flyers' undefeated start to the season.

Shayne Meismer was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Joseph fell to 8-1. As for Calhoun, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Coincidentally, St. Joseph and Calhoun will both be playing Columbus the next time they take the field. St. Joseph will head out to face Columbus at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, while Calhoun will head out to face them at 2:45 p.m. on Friday.
