Recap: Animas Panthers vs. Lordsburg Mavericks
The Animas Panthers lost against the Lordsburg Mavericks two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Animas lost to Lordsburg at home by a decisive 48-32 margin. Animas has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Animas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kohan Evans. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Evans has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Diego Renteria, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Animas has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Lordsburg, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-11.
Animas' homestand continues as they prepare to take on Cliff at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Cliff is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Lordsburg, they will challenge Cobre at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Cobre is ranked 116th, while Lordsburg is ranked 133rd).
