Lake Highland Prep is 3-0 against Wekiva since January of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders will look to defend their home court against the Wekiva Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Tuesday, Lake Highland Prep was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-39 to The First Academy. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Wekiva lost to Timber Creek on the road by a 41-26 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Wolves are ranked 38th).

Lake Highland Prep will have to keep a close watch on Senaia Asanya and Tiana Washington, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wekiva's prior game. Asanya went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points and three steals, while Washington posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wekiva smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Wekiva has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Lake Highland Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Lake Highland Prep strolled past Wekiva in their previous matchup back in November of 2020 by a score of 73-55. Does Lake Highland Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wekiva turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
