Baseball Recap: Angel Huerta and Anthony Moller Secure Win for University

University won the last time they faced Westchester and things went their way on Friday too. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Comets a 12-0 shutout. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 4, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Jacob Santos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, University let Anthony Moller and Angel Huerta run wild. Moller went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Huerta went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Moller is becoming a predictor of University's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Evan Han was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

University's record now sits at 10-13. As for Westchester, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

University has already played their next contest, a 6-5 loss against Rolling Hills Prep on the 3rd. As for Westchester, they will square off against Palisades at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dolphins will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Comets surely won't give up without a fight.
