Baseball Recap: Alcoa's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Alcoa gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Heritage Mountaineers 6-4. The game was the first time the Tornadoes have beaten the Mountaineers on their field since April 8, 2016.

Myles Cox was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cox was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Aden Orrick was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The win (which was Alcoa's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3.

Alcoa has already played their next game, a 7-5 loss against Christian Academy of Knoxville on the 8th. As for Heritage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 12-3 victory against Tuscaloosa Academy on the 10th.
