Basketball Game Preview: Hug Hawks vs. Truckee Wolverines

Hug is 2-7 against Truckee since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hug Hawks will square off against the Truckee Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Truckee took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Hug, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, Hug didn't have too much trouble with Sparks as they won 43-29.

It was another big night for Cori Carrier, who went 8 of 15 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight steals and seven boards. That makes it ten consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Hug's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiah Ahonima, who posted six points along with nine rebounds and six blocks.

Meanwhile, Truckee played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 54-27 loss at the hands of North Valleys. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Hug will need focus on slowing down Becca Brown, one of several Truckee players who made an impact when they last played. She put up eight points.

Hug is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Truckee, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-5.

Hug beat Truckee 36-23 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Hug have another victory up their sleeve, or will Truckee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
