Basketball Game Preview: South Florence Bruins vs. Lower Richland Diamond Hornets

The South Florence Bruins will take on the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, South Florence came up short against Wilson and fell 43-32. The game marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, South Florence saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Harmony Bostick almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Bostick has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Allyson Watson, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Lower Richland waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Gators 64-32. The Diamond Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

South Florence better keep an eye on Jhnai Sumter. She was instrumental in Lower Richland's win, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. What's more, Sumter also racked up seven steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Mikayla Foster was another key player, going 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points.

Lower Richland pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for South Florence, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
