Basketball Recap: Northwood Academy Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Northwood Academy had won two straight home games and Maliyah Birch did her part to make it three on Tuesday. The Northwood Academy Chargers took their game with ease, bagging a 64-16 victory over the Charleston Collegiate Sundevils thanks in part to Birch, who went 11 of 18 on her way to 27 points and seven steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played.

Lauren Cosman was another key player, putting up seven points. What's more, she also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024.

Northwood Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Charleston Collegiate, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwood Academy will face off against Ashley Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Charleston Collegiate has already played their next contest (against Cathedral Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
