Softball Recap: Republic County Comes Up Short

Republic County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Minneapolis Lions, falling 23-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Friday.

Avery Stindt was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grae Siemsen, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Republic County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Minneapolis, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Republic County will face off against Bennington at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Minneapolis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
