Soccer Game Preview: Elk Grove vs. Rolling Meadows + How To Watch

The Elk Grove Grenadiers will challenge the Rolling Meadows Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elk Grove has three straight victories, Rolling Meadows has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Elk Grove took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Hersey, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Grenadiers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huskies on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-1. The win was all the more spectacular given Elk Grove's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Hersey are ranked 23rd).

Arthur Mikina and Olivier Bielecki scored both of Elk Grove's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, Rolling Meadows' game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Conant. Rolling Meadows fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Conant since Tuesday.

Rolling Meadows' loss dropped their record down to 2-8-3. As for Elk Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4-1.

Elk Grove took their win against Rolling Meadows when the teams last played on Saturday by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Grenadiers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
