Baseball Recap: Metcalfe County Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cumberland County, Metcalfe County was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Edmonson County Wildcats by a score of 5-2. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 12-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Metcalfe County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Edmonson County, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8-1.

Coming up, Metcalfe County will square off against Russell County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lakers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Edmonson County has already played their next game (against Russellville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
