Soccer Game Preview: Harlingen vs. Veterans Memorial

Harlingen has won three straight games at home, while Veterans Memorial has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Harlingen Cardinals will welcome the Veterans Memorial Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Harlingen is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand San Benito a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won six contests by five goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Veterans Memorial narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past San Benito 6-5. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Chargers' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Harlingen has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those six matches. As for Veterans Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
