Basketball Game Preview: New Bern Bears vs. Havelock Rams

The New Bern Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Havelock Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

New Bern lost 55-29 to D.H. Conley on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while the Vikings are ranked 134th).

Meanwhile, Havelock hadn't done well against J.H. Rose recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Havelock slipped by J.H. Rose 41-40.

New Bern dropped their record down to 4-18 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Havelock, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.

New Bern and Havelock were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but New Bern came up empty-handed after a 31-30 defeat. Can New Bern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
