League recap: Elkhart extends winning streak with victory over Wichita County

Elkhart added to the longest winning streak in Hi-Plains this week by beating Wichita County, 41-7. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Wildcats.

Southwestern Heights's dynamic duo of Brandon Kisner and Jorge Dela Torre proved to be unstoppable against Stanton County, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kisner threw for 43 yards and Dela Torre had 43 yards receiving.

Jett Little provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Meade beat Cimarron. He completed 3 passes for 42 yards and also ran for 195 yards. Little's key target this week was Morgan Davis, who caught 3 passes for 42 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Elkhart's Alex Gomez and Juston Hurn have proven to be a lethal combination. Gomez has thrown for 944 yards this season, while Hurn, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 20 catches for 561 yards. Little from the Buffaloes leads the league in rushing with 597 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Meade takes on the Trojans. As it stands, Scott Moshier's team is in second, while Stanton County is in seventh.

Lakin led Hi-Plains in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Sublette. Luis McPherson ran for 142 yards during the win.
