Softball Recap: Apple Valley Has No Trouble Against Richfield

Apple Valley barely beat Richfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Spartans on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Amelia Duran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Duran, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Grace Jackson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Apple Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-11. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Richfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Apple Valley will be playing at home against Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Teddies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.09 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Richfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Edina at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
