Baseball Recap: Manitowoc Lutheran's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Manitowoc Lutheran dropped their record down to 6-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mishicot Indians. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 6-0.

Manitowoc Lutheran saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Haupt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Haupt is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Mishicot, their record is now 6-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Mishicot's side, Eli Skarda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Skarda was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jax Vogel, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Bennett Grossheim, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Manitowoc Lutheran will head out to challenge St. Mary Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mishicot, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Algoma at 10:00 a.m.
