Softball Game Preview: Pomona Catholic Pacers vs. St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors

The Pomona Catholic Pacers will head out on the road to take on the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Pomona Catholic is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Pomona Catholic came up short against Calvary Baptist on Monday, falling 18-7.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy lost 24-4 to La Salle on Thursday.

Leah Estrada and Jeanette Sepulveda stepped up to the plate in a big way. Estrada went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Sepulveda scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Sepulveda is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive games.

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4. As for Pomona Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Pomona Catholic took their victory against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 24-2. Will Pomona Catholic repeat their success, or does St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
