Basketball Recap: Independent Takes a Loss

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-13, which was the final score in the Independent Panthers's tilt against the Wamego Red Raiders on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 76th).

Independent dropped their record down to 2-10-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Wamego, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Independent wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 48-26 loss against Garden Plain on the 11th. As for Wamego, they will be playing at home against Clay Center on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Clay Center sitting on three straight wins and Wamego on four.
