Baseball Recap: Lindenhurst Takes a Loss

Lindenhurst was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Sachem East. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Sachem East this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Monday.

Ricky Nunez was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Nunez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Billy Steinmann, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Lindenhurst's record is now 3-15. As for Sachem East, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6.

While Lindenhurst had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
