Softball Recap: Mauston Comes Up Short

Mauston extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They came up short against the Adams-Friendship Green Devils, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Green Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 back in April.

As for Adams-Friendship, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

For Adams-Friendship's part, Riley Weaver was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Weaver has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Kena Kirsenlohr was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Kerrigan Danowski was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Mauston didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 defeat against Westfield Area on the 8th. As for Adams-Friendship, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-3 victory against Wisconsin Dells on the 8th.
