Recap: Hammond Central Wolves vs. Chesterton Trojans
The Hammond Central Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chesterton. Hammond Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Chesterton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Hammond Central still got an impressive performance from Marcus Browder, who scored 25 points along with two steals. That was a full 51% of Hammond Central's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'shawn Woods, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Hammond Central has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Chesterton, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.
Hammond Central will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lake Central at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Hammond Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday. As for Chesterton, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m.
