Softball Recap: Venture Academy Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Venture Academy proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 12) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Millennium Falcons 10-9. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 15-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Savanah Espinoza made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Padilla, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Tiffany Bruss was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Venture Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Venture Academy pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.2 runs. As for Millennium, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Venture Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
