Voyager's loss ends three-game winning streak at home

Recap: Voyager Vikings vs. Southern Alamance Patriots

The Voyager Vikings pushed their score all the way to 67 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern Alamance. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (58), Voyager still had to take the loss.

Defeat or not, Voyager got some senior leadership from Dwight Anderson who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and Michael Gales who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Pullium, who scored seven points.

Even though they lost, Voyager were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Alamance only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Southern Alamance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Epps, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Epps continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jordan Moore was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Voyager's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Southern Alamance, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.

Voyager will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Neumann-Goretti at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neumann-Goretti has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 233 points over their last three matchups. Southern Alamance is on the road again on Thursday and play against T.W. Andrews at 11:00 a.m. on December 28, 2023.
