League recap: Mountain Grove extends winning streak with victory over Pleasant Hope

Mountain Grove extended the longest winning streak in South Central this week by beating Pleasant Hope, 56-6. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.

Liberty took down Houston 69-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jaelon Acklin threw for 62 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 31 yards in the win.

Jacob Alford was the best wideout in the league this week as Thayer topped Chaffee. Alford tallied one reception for 43 yards. Peyton Risner helped Thayer's passing attack out by catching two balls for 25 yards.

Mitch Webber provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bobcats beat the Red Devils. He completed five passes for 99 yards and also ran for 78 yards.

Alford was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 173 yards on 23 carries as Thayer defeated Chaffee.

On the ground, Mountain Grove's Tyler Collins has rushed for 1354 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Broderick Davis. The Cabool star has 38 catches for 621 yards.

Richard Johnson's team's Bobby Otwell needs only 86 yards against Willow Springs next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 119 carries Otwell has accumulated 914 yard this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Panthers take on the Bears. At the moment, Mountain Grove is in first, while Willow Springs is in fifth.

Matt Perkins' team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,044 from 9,974. The advance stemmed from a 35-0 victory over Fair Grove last week.
