Soccer Game Preview: Destin vs. Escambia

The Destin Sharks will head out on the road to face off against the Escambia Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Destin is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victor by an 8-3 margin over Bozeman on Wednesday. The score was close at the half, but the Sharks pulled away in the second half with four goals.

Meanwhile, Escambia kept a clean sheet against Pine Forest on Thursday. They blew past the Eagles 10-0. Considering the Gators have won nine games by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Pine Forest from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Matilyn Holmes led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Escambia's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four contests. As for Destin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9-2.

Destin might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Escambia in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can Destin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
