Baseball Recap: Seymour Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Seymour barely beat New London the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Thunder's pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Brady Poch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Seymour's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cayden Staffeldt, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Seymour pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for New London, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will welcome Notre Dame Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New London, they will host Xavier at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
