Football Recap: Leonia Comes Up Short at Home Against Harrison

Leonia unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Harrison Blue Tide 32-0 on Wednesday. The Lions were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Tide from their previous meeting back in June of 2024.

Leading Harrison to victory were Mya De Jesus and Hailey Scocco. De Jesus gained 108 total yards and two touchdowns, while Scocco threw for 116 yards and one touchdown on only ten passes. Those 116 passing yards gave Scocco a new career-high.

Harrison pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Leonia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harrison, they will square off against Wood-Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
