Baseball Recap: Serra Catholic Now 13-1 over Last 14 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Serra Catholic rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by nine runs or more this season.

Owen Dumbroski made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Dumbroski was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Matt McNeal was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Serra Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in six consecutive games.

Serra Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson-Morgan, they moved to 14-4 with that defeat, which also ended their 13-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Serra Catholic nor the Rockets have any future games scheduled.
