Basketball Game Preview: Crescent Loggers vs. Neah Bay Red Devils

Crescent hasn't had much luck against Neah Bay recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Crescent Loggers will host the Neah Bay Red Devils at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Crescent sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 win over Clallam Bay. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Loggers.

Meanwhile, Neah Bay entered their tilt with Naselle on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They strolled past the Comets with points to spare, taking the game 66-52. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Comets are ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Neah Bay pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Crescent, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Crescent might still be hurting after the 64-42 loss they got from Neah Bay in their previous meeting last Friday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Neah Bay's Makyah Chambers, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Now that Crescent knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
